
Richard Gonzalez
Co-Director
Dr. Richard Gonzalez is the Amos N. Tversky Professor of Psychology and Statistics. He is the Director of the BSMC and the Research Center for Group Dynamics at the Institute for Social Research. He also holds appointments in Bioinformatics, the Center for Human Growth and Development, Ross School of Business/Marketing, the College of Engineering and the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Gonzalez’ main research areas are methodology and judgement/decision making. You might see him around town on his bike as he enjoys meeting collaborators in their home environments.

Jacqui Smith
Co-Director
Dr. Jacqui Smith, Co-Director of the HomeLab and the BioSocial Methods Collaborative, is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Michigan and a Research Professor at the Institute for Social Research. Dr. Smith is a Co-PI of the Health and Retirement Study, where her research focuses on aging, including the well-being and psychological vitality of older adults.

Jeannette Jackson
Founding Managing Director, Advisor
Jeannette Jackson is the Managing Director of the HomeLab and with Rich Gonzalez, co-founded the BioSocial Methods Collaborative in 2013 to support the innovation of biosocial methods. With an MBA from the U-M Ross School of Business, Jeannette Jackson brings business experience that has addressed organizational change and leadership development for industry, non-profits and higher education.

Alicia Carmichael
Research Process Director
Alicia Carmichel is the Research Process Director at the HomeLab. Since joining the BioSocial Methods Collaborative in 2014, she has overseen the life cycle of research projects from end to end. Her activities span research planning, physiological sensor testing, protocol development, survey design, data management, and student mentorship, with a particular research interest in public engagement with genetic information.

Donna Walter
Operations Manager,
Participant Engagement Specialist
Donna Walter is the Operations Manager at the HomeLab and is the participant engagement specialist for all the lab’s studies. She handles the “housekeeping” operations of the lab, including managing payroll and billing for the BioSocial Methods Collaborative; scheduling; training and mentoring research assistants, and interacting with research participants who are the heart of our research.

Natalie Leonard
Human Environment Research Associate
Natalie Leonard is a Human-Environment Research Specialist with the BioSocial Methods Collaborative team at the HomeLab. With a BS in Psychology (Georgia Institute of Technology, 2018) and an MS in Architecture Research (University of Michigan, 2019), her expertise brings the fields together to help architecture apply evidence-based, human-centered design to improve health care and human subjects research environments.

Brandon Labbree
Research Lab Manager
Brandon Labbree is the Research Lab Manager for the HomeLab and the BioSocial Methods Collaborative at the Institute for Social Research. Brandon manages the technology and the “back of house” aspects of the HomeLab, and brings expertise in coding many of the surveys and reports that are generated in the research process.

Bolu Dogari
Research Associate
Boluwatife Dogari is a research associate at the HomeLab and the BioSocial Methods Collaborative. She is a Junior Professional Researcher at the Institute for Social Research, working on a variety of research projects for the Research Center for Group Dynamics.
