This workshop is part of the yearly ICPSR Summer Program Topical Workshop series. Psychophysiology research explores the relationship between the mind and the body. Psychophysiological data is increasingly accessible and pervasive within social science. This workshop provides foundational knowledge for critical thinking about this technology. Through a combination of lecture, hands-on activities, and small group discussion, learners will explore the biological underpinnings of these channels, essentials of data acquisition, and art of signal processing. This workshop is intended for social science students and researchers with no prior psychophysiology experience.

This immersive, hands-on Experiential Learning Module was developed for the annual Michigan Integrative Well-Being and Inequality (MIWI) Summer Institute. Over the course of two intensive days, scholars explore new ways to develop research protocols using simulation techniques paired with Human-Centered Design principles. Participants are equipped with a versatile toolkit to enhance both the human experience and data quality in research protocols.
